The Modern Magician was a periodical about magic that was started after the first appearance of The Friends of English Magic in 1808. The editors were not appointed by Mr Norrell but they kept the same line of opinion as the one established by Norrell [24]. It was in this periodical that Mr Segundus eventually divulged exactly how he had performed the spell which broke Lady Pole's enchantment [64].
