Written by Paris Ormskirk, this is the book Jonathan Strange consulted before attending upon His Majesty at Windsor, finding within it a prescription to dispel illusions which was later of material benefit to him when the gentleman with the thistle-down hair attempted to beguile him into entering Faerie[32]. That it is in Mr. Strange's possession suggests it may be one of the forty or so books belonging to Mr. Norrell which Mr. Strange took with him to the Peninsula.

It is also the book - though one presumes, a different copy - that John Childermass takes with him when he leaves the service of Mr. Norrell forever[63].
