Donata Torel was the daughter of the twelfth-century Master of Nottingham, Hugh Torel. Along with Margaret Ford, Donata Torel was a member of Nottinghamshire fellowship of female magicians which her father sought to abolish. The women, however, left their homes to live under the protection of Thomas Godbless in the forest [25].

There is an alternate, and probably untrue, story in which Donata Torel goes to great lengths to recover a magical ring (which had belonged to her father) from Margaret Ford [25].
