Whittlesea

Mr Whittlesea was a gentleman of Stamford in Lincolnshire. He challenged the magio-historian William Pantler to a duel after the latter had cast aspersions on the good name of Mrs Whittlesea, whom he accused of forging the Pevensey letters. The duel was never fought[35].
